A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is a person who has undergone training and obtained a state license to provide routine care for the sick. Some states use the term licensed vocational nurse or LVN. They are under the supervision of the primary nurse or doctor. Their activities can include taking vital signs, bathing/cleaning the patient, and changing linens.
These individuals will not be able to answer questions about medical issues and will defer to the supervising nurse or doctor to answer.
